No. I am not a licensed counselor. We will not discuss your past traumas or difficulties. I use Meyers Briggs and other self-awareness assessments to help identify your unique gifts and hopefully help you better understand yourself, your motivations, and your natural strengths to empower you to make decisions that are right for you. It can also help us recognize areas where we struggle and need support.

No. I do not help clients find a job, but I want to help you identify your gifts and talents and the types of environments where you do your best work. I want to help you recognize your values and appreciate the value you bring to the workplace.

Meyers Briggs and other self-awareness tools are not a panacea. I am not going to solve your problem. I want to help you to find your own answers to the life transition you are facing by helping you connect with your strengths and preferences and understand what might be holding you back from enjoying your current situation or moving forward to the next. These tools are self-affirming and encouraging. They help us understand ourselves and appreciate others who are different.

The assessment tools’ accuracy is in direct proportion to your ability to answer the questions honestly and truthfully for yourself. Work, family, and friends can influence and impact how we think we are supposed to be.

Our culture loves to focus on everything we do wrong, our weaknesses, and areas for development.
Most of us suffer through a perfectly fine annual review with 90% of the time devoted to the one thing that didn’t go well that year and what we could do better instead of all the things that we do well and right. It’s demoralizing. No one is perfect. No one can be all things to everyone. It is my hope clients will focus their development efforts and growth on their strengths and learn to accept their weaknesses. In my experience, people looking to gain clarity on their strengths are well aware of their weaknesses. We can seek support for areas of weakness or recognize that you might not be in a position or relationship that healthily supports your strengths. While I do not disagree with the need to address weaknesses that are affecting our enjoyment of work and relationships, that is not my focus.

The online tests provide a type result based on how you answered the questions. A Certified MBTI practitioner can help you drill down and identify your true type. You may have adapted yourself to work, family, or other influences that could make you answer questions a certain way. Working with an MBTI practitioner and thoroughly reviewing the materials can help you identify what type resonates most with you and provide valuable insights.
